A feeling that captures the spirit of the holidays is love!

So how can the two of you capture the excitement? One way is to think of holiday preparation as fun.

Preparation is about more than just planning and scheduling. It's also about getting our spirits ready and open to the joy that's possible, and then creating that joy (for ourselves and others) through our actions.

It is always fun to look forward to fun events during the holidays, here are a few suggestions:

Go out to see the lights in your neighborhood and than go home and watch a Christmas movie

Go to a local church that has a good choir

Go to one of the hotels you have always wanted to see and have a drink by there Christmas tree

Have fun!, visiting people, caring for others, creating surprises, and planning or attending parties and gatherings are all ways the two of you can share the spirit and joy of the holidays. Happiness is contagious and it multiplies. The more joy you give to others, the more joy you feel.

The two of you should start your own traditions!

• Create your own holiday cards using your computer or art supplies and recycled paper

• Make a CD of your favorite Christmas music and start your own collection.

• Have a White Elephant gift swap

• Start a caroling expedition with grand kids
